This part is the introduction to the topic. In case you don’t understand something this are the basic guidelines and Ideas of this section. They have been taken from my new media essay. "Do you remember when it took forever for information to spread around? When the letters had to be taken in a boat to the rest of the world just so you could talk to your loved ones? Or when pony express was literally a guy delivering posts in a small horse. When phones were not inalambric. I don’t remember any of this and probably you don’t either. Because I, as well as all actual teenagers was born in a different era, in an era when information travels from one side of the globe to another in a matter of seconds, when almost an unlimited amount of information is stored in the world wide web and is accessible to anyone that has Access to the internet. This era is the era of new media." This part is the introduction to the topic. In case you dont understand something this are the basic guidelines and Ideas of this section. In this first part I discuss new media as a source of fun. In case you didn’t catch something in the video this are the basic speech guidelines I used for this section, they have been retrieved from my New Media Essay. This part is divided into 2 sections. The first thing that I think about new media is that it is a really good source of fun. "There has been a new developing era of gaming consoles sold by the million. With this hundreds of new games are available to the public in a lot of new and exciting gaming platforms like the Play Station, the Xbox of the Wii. As well as a lot of games on the internet, laptops, tablets of smartphones. This has even introduced a new hobby, gaming which was wildly popularized in the last few years. Although some parents don’t understand and think that gaming is a waste of time and that kids should be doing something else, saying that it is addictive and that videogames make people violent. Personally I couldn’t disagree more, videogames are a hobby like any other hobbies out there, it helps the person to learn to make faster decisions and get a better hand to eye coordination, as well as perseverance and the ability to easily identify patterns (Weber). Violent videogames don’t make people violent, either they are violent of they are not violent because following the same logic monopoly would make you a millionaire and risk would make you a war strategist, which they don’t do, so why are videogames any different."
The second section is an interview to a friend of mine about his thoughts about new media.
The second section is an interview to a friend of mine about his thoughts about new media.
In this part we address new media as a source of information. In case you don’t understand something this are the basic guidelines and Ideas of this section. They have been taken from my new media essay. "Another thing that makes new media good is that communication and the spread of ideas are almost instantaneous with the help of the internet. Now you can speak with a person that is at the other side of the world in real time, spread thoughts and ideas like never before. An example of this is the story narrated in the “Revolutionary Arab Geeks” article that talks about how people in Tunisia and Egypt managed to destroy a dictatorship in their respective countries by using new media to recruit people, spread ideas and information and exposed their governments with videos and facts in the spot. This also inspired other countries to do the same thing, like Libya for example. (Cohen.)"
This section talks about the negative side of new media, in case you don’t understand or you would like to read what is said on the podcast, this are the basic speech guidelines I used for this part. "What bad things can new media possibly have? The answer is: a lot. But if it’s used responsibly then the probability of this things actually happening decrease a lot. Things like cyberbullying which is really likely to happen to problematic kids like expressed in the “Teenage Social Media Butterflies” article saying that well-adjusted teens don t have this problems since they are not likely to get in trouble (Headley). Another article named “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” claims that the continuous use of new media has made us not only completely dependent on it but it was caused us to shorten our attention span, making us unwilling to read long in depth articles instead of a short summary, or perhaps reading an entire book, even though this is the time period when people are reading the most. It also claims that it was shortened our senses and desitions making ability. Says that biologically the internet affects our cognition, multitasking and the easier life using new media have shortened our attention. Finally it claims that google, the world´s best search engine, controls the information we get and thus it affects our thinking (Carr), I think that it is correct but it doesn’t make google any less useful, it is the core of information ."
This is the final podcast of the series, it talks about new media as a source of information and it also contains a small concluding comment, In case you don’t understand or you just want to read, this are the basic speech guidelines I used for this part. With new media getting the information you need is a process of seconds, using the advanced search engines like google you can access to millions of facts, stats about your favorite sport, tutorials, educational information about almost any topic, information about jobs, people, historic events, actual events, trends, shopping, games, pictures, videos, Wikipedia and much more things are now available for anyone that wants the. It’s a perfect way to share ideas or make publicity, since you know that there will be a lot amount of people out there to watch it.
